Newton Man Injured in Weather-Related Crash

A Newton man was injured in a crash related to the weather Thursday afternoon.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 74-year-old Michael Mulvey hydroplaned on wet pavement and ran off the roadway, striking a ditch. The incident occurred on Illinois Route 33, just east of Effingham, at 1:29pm. 

Mulvey was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

No tickets were issued.
