A Dieterich teenager was injured in a crash late Monday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department report a 16-year-old girl was traveling on 1900th Street, a quarter-mile north of 400th Avenue, west of Dieterich when she lost control of the car. The unit ran off the right side of the roadway and then recrossed the road, striking a ditch. The unit overturned several times, coming to rest on the passenger side in a cornfield.

The 16-year-old, whose name was not released by the sheriff's department, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

The teenager was cited for DUI and for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

The crash was reported just before 11:30pm Monday.
