Altamont Schuetzenfest This Weekend

The 2012 Altamont Schuetzenfest will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Effingham County Fairgrounds.

One of the longest-running German festivals in Illinois, the Schuetzenfest will feature German food, breakfast from 10:30pm to midnight each night, a B-B gun shoot, a volleyball tournament, inflatables for the kids, a car show, the coronation of a king and queen, a Jeep-N-Fest, musical performances, and a beer and wine garden til midnight both nights.

The volleyball tournament Saturday will feature registration at 10am and play at 10:30am.  Car Show registration will be from 9am to 1pm Saturday.  The King and Queen coronation will be at 8pm Saturday.

The Jeep-N-Fest will feature sign-in at Luke's Bar and Grill from 11:30am to 1pm at a cost of $10/person.  There will be wine and beer tasting at the Wright House in Altamont, at Vahling Vineyards, 3rd Base Bar, Kaz Bar, and Altamont VFW.  The event will include free entry to the fairgrounds after the run and free camping.  There will be a 50/50 drawing, t-shirts and other prizes.  Contact Darren Beccue, Scott Ruff or Matt Holste for more information.

The music will include Super Delux Friday from 8:15 to 11:30pm, Dave Hylla's Good Time Band (a German band) Saturday from 4 to 8pm, and music by Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets from 8:15 to 11:30pm Saturday.
