A fiery crash injured two people in Cumberland County Monday morning.

The crash happened at 10:28am on the Montrose Blacktop at the junction with Illinois 121, also known as "7 Mile Curve". The junction is seven miles west of Toledo.

State police report a SUV driven by Michael James Duncan of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided head-on with a semi hauling grain making the curve at the junction.

Both units caught fire. The semi driver, Jimmy Warner of Ft. Myers, Florida, extinguished the fire in Duncan's SUV while crews from the Neoga and Toledo fire departments put out the fire in the semi.

A passenger in the SUV, Charlene Gaeth-Duncan of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters. She was airlifted to Methodist Memorial Trauma Center in Indianapolis for treatment. Michael James Duncan was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment of his injuries. Warner was not reported injured.

Michael James Duncan was cited for disobeying a stop sign.

The junction was closed to traffic for some time after the crash.
