For the first time, Helen Matthes Library in Effingham has recorded a circulation figure of 190,000.

The exact figure is 191,984, up from 174,854 the previous year.

In the last five years, the library has seen a huge growth in usage aided by longer open hours, increased emphasis on ensuring the library stocks materials the community wants, and the continued introduction of new services including digital books and magazines. Five years ago, circulation numbers were under 130,000.

"We are so pleased to share these great statistics from this past year. As the numbers clearly indicate, Helen Matthes Library continues to provide community engagement and lifelong learning opportunities through circulation materials. We look forward to seeing our usage continue to rise in the new building later this year," Amanda McKay, library director, noted.
