State Crop Report for Week Ending May 31

Statewide, precipitation averaged 2.22 inches, 1.21 inches above normal. The average temperature was 69.9 degrees, 3.7 degrees above normal. There were 3.5 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending May 31.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2% short, 76% adequate and 22% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 8% short, 80% adequate and 12% surplus.

Corn emerged reached 94% complete, compared to 90% last year and the five-year average of 88%. Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 18% fair, 61% good, and 18% excellent. 

Soybeans planted reached 82%, in line with last year's progress and above the five-year average of 73%. Soybeans emerged reached 62%, compared to 55% in 2014 and the five-year average of 51%.

Winter wheat headed reached 94%. Winter wheat condition was rated 2% very poor, 8% poor, 35% fair, 48% good, and 7% excellent.

Oats headed reached 38% pasture.

Pasture and range condition was rated 2% poor, 16% fair, 60% good, and 22% excellent.
