State Crop Report for Week Ending May 24

Statewide, precipitation averaged 0.29 inches, six-tenths of an inch below normal.

The average temperature was 60.2 degrees, 5.3 degrees below normal.

There were four days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending May 24.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3% short, 82% adequate, and 15% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 10% short, 81% adequate and 9% surplus.

Corn planting reached 97% complete, compared to 93% for both last year and the five-year average. Corn emerged reached 87%. Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 17% fair, 64% good, and 16% excellent.

Soybeans planted climbed to 69% complete, up 22% rom last week. 

Winter wheat headed increased to 89%. Winter wheat condition was rated 2% very poor, 8% poor, 31% fair, 51% good, and 8% excellent.

Oats planted reached 95% complete.

Pasture and range condition was rated 2% poor, 15% fair, 63% good, and 20% excellent.
