The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the interstate construction project around the US 45 interchange in Effingham is ready to move into the next stage.

This weekend, weather permitting, the ramps for Southbound I-57 and Westbound I-70 traffic will be closed to make the temporary tie-ins to move traffic onto newly constructed pavement. The on and off ramps, on the north side of the interchange, will be closed starting Friday evening and will be re-opened by early Monday morning.

Crews will be working around the clock to build the required connectors. A marked detour will be in place to direct interstate traffic around the work zone.

IDOT officials ask you to: please have patience...watch out for workers...and pay attention to the construction signs in the area.

McCarthy Improvement Company is the prime contractor and Steve Miller is the Resident Engineer for IDOT. Questions concerning the project may be directed to Miller at 342-4523 or Bob Utz as the Effingham office at 342-3951.
