A domestic disturbance led to a drug arrest Monday evening in rural Altamont.

37-year-old Joseph S. Reynolds, Sr. has been arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, and additional charges are pending.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department was called at 5:55pm to a domestic disturbance at an apartment on West Kanak Street in rural Altamont. During the initial investigation, deputies received information that led them to suspect the presence of methamphetamine manufacturing materials within the apartment.

Deputies obtained a search warrant from Resident Circuit Judge Kimberly Koester Monday night for the apartment, and several items related to meth manufacturing were located.

The Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Altamont Police Department, Illinois State Police and the Effingham County State's Attorney's Office in the investigation. The case has been referred to the State's Attorney's Office.

Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon said he appreciated the cooperation among the law enforcement agencies involved in the initial investigation.
