The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Thursday took care of several personnel matters for the coming school year.

The Board hired Sarah Conder as a cross-categorical teacher, Kami Hefner as a Kindergarten teacher, Megan Logue as a first grade teacher, and Marissa Ruffner as a third grade teacher.

The Board also approved several employee transfers, including Kathryn Roepke as a PE and Special Education Resource, Carissa Niemerg as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, Jessica Barthelme as a Cross Categorical Kindergarten instructor, Deb Spence as a second grade teacher, and Theresa Wolke as a first grade teacher.

Board members also acted on some student discipline matters.

Three students were expelled for the rest of the school year and all of next school year, but will be referred to alternative education. One other student was expelled for the rest of the school year and all of next school year, and will be referred to alternative school, but could petition for re-enrollment for the second semester of next school year.
