Teddy Dietzen will never forget his 10th birthday.

The John Dietzen family was awakened by a fire at their home at 6:03am Sunday. Effingham Fire Captain Jim Charters said the preliminary cause appears to have been a lithium battery charger that was located in the garage of the home at 703 Flamingo.

There was fire damage in the garage, and light smoke, but no fire inside the main body of the home. All of the family was out of the house quickly and no one was injured.

Firefighters were on scene just over an hour.
