Neoga schools Interim Superintendent Beth Pressler said not all of the savings desired by almost $1 million in personnel cuts by the Neoga school board this week will be realized during the coming school year.
Pressler announced at the meeting that $992,084 in savings is estimated from the cuts made. In a subsequent release, though, Pressler said $351,980 of that amount is in Special Education program cuts that won't be realized until the 2016-17 school year. That lowers the savings for the coming year to $640,104.
Additionally, Pressler said some of the special education aides released for next year Wednesday night will need to be brought back once enrollment and finances are set for next year. She is estimating the cost of those to be brought back will be $152,784. That reduces the amount of money to be saved to $487,320, not $992,084, at least for 2015-16.
That's a difference of almost $505,000.
