The Neoga Community Alliance is encouraging supporters in the Neoga school district to attend a Monday, March 16 community meeting as part of its continuing efforts to raise awareness regarding the tax referendum included on the upcoming April 7 election ballot.

Neoga school officials and school board members have been working for months to discuss potential cuts and ways to boost revenue to maintain operation of a stand-alone, self-sufficient school district. The district has already decided to close one of its three school buildings for next school year and has reduced staffing levels to lower costs of operation. Now, additional revenue is being sought to complement those moves.

At the public meeting, scheduled for 7pm in the fellowship hall of Grace United Methodist Church located on the corner of 7th Street and Walnut Avenue, Community Alliance representatives will make a short presentation to provide updates and answer questions fielded at the group's initial community meeting on February 4. Following this presentation, NCA members will make themselves available to answer questions in something of a "breakout session" format.

Alliance members are asking those already sure they'll vote Yes on the referendum to attend to show support. They can also find out about other ways to support the referendum effort.

The NCA has set up an email address, neogacommunityalliance2014@gmail.com for any questions, comments or suggestions, or you can visit online at www.neogacommunityalliance.com for regular updates and information leading up to the April election.
