Dieterich village board members Monday decided to hire an Edwardsville firm to assist with efforts to extend the life of their Tax Increment Financing district.
Board members hired Keith Moran of Moran Economic Development to assist the village in seeking the extension of the village's TIF 1 District. A TIF District allows a municipality to retain the increase in property tax and some sales tax revenue for use in developing the district. Dieterich's TIF 1 District contains a large part of the village; the industrial park, the downtown area, the school property and the first phase of North Pointe Subdivision. The TIF District is due to expire in 2020; the Village hopes to get State approval to extend the life of the TIF District by 12 years.
The Board also discussed hiring a consultant who could help the village plan for future development in the next 10-15 years. Board members agreed to seek proposals on the work.
Dieterich board members agreed to notify the Governor that they want to continue receiving the full funding they've been receiving, rather than the State keeping a portion of the revenue to help with its budget woes. It was also agreed to develop welcome packets to be presented to anyone locating anywhere within the village, and the Board hired Clayton Campton and Jamie Van Scyoc as summer employees.
Dieterich board members agreed to bid out mowing the village cemetery, but to keep other mowing in-house, heard that work is almost finished on remodeling the restrooms at the village pavilion, and agreed to seek bids on new telemetry software for the village's water distribution system.
