Three Crashes w/Injuries Over the Weekend

Three crashes with injuries occurred in and around Effingham over the weekend.

One person was injured in a crash at Willow and Pembroke shortly after 1pm Sunday.

City police report a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Britton Spindler of Effingham pulled in front of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 17-year-old John Wendt of Teutopolis.

A passenger in Spindler's vehicle, 16-year-old Sammantha Steele of Effingham, was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. 

Spindler was cited for failure to yield.

An Effingham man was injured in a Friday morning incident along the interstate entrance ramp at Fayette Avenue. The crash occurred at 11:20am when a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Troy Holland of Effingham left the roadway and struck a rock-lined ditch. 

Holland was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No citations were issued.

A Mattoon woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash a quarter-mile north of 1st Street, on 1900th Avenue. The crash happened just after 9:30am Saturday.

A vehicle driven by 78-year-old Patricia Strohl ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, and ran off the right side of the road striking a ditch embankment. 

Strohl was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No citations were issued.
