Investigation Continues Following Arrest of Local Man on Theft, Other Charges

An Effingham man has been arrested on charges including theft, and local authorities say the investigation into the case is continuing.

City police Thursday arrested 56-year-old Steven F. Ruffner on a charge of theft involving items valued at between $500 and $10,000, false personation, and use of credit or debit card with intent to defraud.

When contacted, police indicated that they are not releasing additional information until the investigation is concluded.

Ruffner was also arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear in court on a count of theft involving deception. Bond has been set at $10,000. Ruffner is due back in court on February 27 to consider forfeiture of his bond.
