The US Army's investigation report of the April 2, 2014 shootings at Fort Hood, Texas was released on Friday.

Among the victims of the shootings was Effingham native Sgt. Timothy Owens.

The Army's investigation report included several recommendations. The Army, including Fort Hood, is currently evaluating and implementing those recommendations. Some recommendations work to improve information flow in units, between Army medical facilities and between leadership and their soldiers. Others deal with safety and security measures.

Sgt. Owens was one of three people killed by Army Specialist Ivan Lopez, which left 16 others wounded.

In a statement released by Col. Christopher Garver, III Corps Public Affairs Officer, the following quote was included, "All of us here at Fort Hood remain deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place here April 2, 2014. Our leaders continue to work with those who were affected by this tragedy and we extend our continued condolences to those who lost loved ones and to those who suffered wounds. We also send our love, prayers, care and support to all soldiers, civilians and family members affected...Fort Hood officials remain committed to doing what's necessary to ensure the safety and security of all personnel on Fort Hood."
