City Police Investigate Major Damage to Machinery, Burglary from Vehicle

Effingham city police are investigating major damage to a piece of machinery and a burglary from a vehicle.

The criminal damage occurred at Effingham Asphalt at 1601 W. Wabash sometime between 5pm January 13 and 8am Monday. A rock crusher, owned by Surmeier and Surmeier of Mascoutah, sustained between $30,000 and $40,000 in damage.

Police are also investigating a burglary from a motor vehicle while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot in the 100 block of Illini Drive sometime between 9pm Tuesday and 7am Wednesday. Stolen was a wallet, FOID card, driver's license, hunting license and an undetermined amount of cash.

The driver's side window sustained an undetermined amount of damage in the incident.
