Firefighters Called to Space Heater Fire at Lakeland Health Care

A malfunctioning space heater caused a run by Effingham firefighters Tuesday morning.

Effingham Fire Chief Joe Holomy said the call came just after 7am to a room in Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center located along Temple Avenue. Holomy said it's believed the unit shorted out. 

No one was injured. Firefighters spent about a half hour at the center to get smoke out of the building.
