North Clay school board members heard Thursday from Andy and Diona Griffy about Diona Griffy's desire to be a fulltime bus driver and her desire to be paid at a higher rate than starting salary.
The matter was discussed in closed session. The Board later hired Griffy as a fulltime driver.
The Board decided to advertise for fuel bids; and to replace the entire district phone and intercom system with a system from Effingham Telecom Solutions. The bid approval will be offset by a Rural and Low Income Development Grant.
12 new Chromebooks were purchased for North Clay High School for incoming freshmen on behalf of the North Clay Academic Foundation; and the Board decided against acting on a request for an unpaid leave from Debbie Cox; and approved the establishment of a Fellowship of Christian Athletes club within the district.
North Clay board members accepted a resignation from Melanie Shehorn as junior high head volleyball coach and approved the hiring by the Administration of a replacement; accepted a resignation from Cathi Bailey as grade school secretary and hired Denise Smith to succeed her, and approved a maternity leave for Marcy Zerrusen through the end of the school year.
