Local Congressman John Shimkus Friday said the US House vote this week to de-fund previous executive actions by President Obama is an attempt to stop what he terms unconstitutional actions by the president.

Shimkus said citizens of his congressional district have raised an "outcry" against the president's step of "crafting law rather signing bills".

Shimkus isn't certain whether the measure will pass the Senate and said it will likely face a Presidential veto if it does. He said, "This is what we (the House) could do."
