Jasper County board members heard at this month's meeting about an aerial flyover proposal.

Lowell Davis of Pictometry proposed a flyover to do aerial mapping of the county. The data is a help to the county Supervisor of Assessments office, but also helps 911 and EMS personnel in determining exact locations.

The flyover would take place in 2015 and again in 2017 to allow assessors to find changes to properties such as additional outbuildings on farms, but would also show building that might have been removed in the intervening years. The data will measure the distance and height of buildings. The Board agreed to pay for the flights at a cost of $159,000 to be financed over three years.

Board members also heard that the county's liquor ordinance needs amended to include guidelines for a winery.
