An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death of an Effingham man in a Friday night accident was due to the accident.

41-year-old Wesley Blumer was struck by a pickup truck on US 45 at the north edge of Heartville about 9:30pm Friday. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Blumer died from injuries sustained in the accident. The office of Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey reported that final autopsy results will be available in four to six weeks.

An investigation into the incident continues by Illinois State Police and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.

Blumer was fatally injured while walking on the northbound lane of the highway when struck by a pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Gregory Yocum of Effingham. Yocum was later cited for DUI alcohol.
