Effingham County Clerk Kerry Hirtzel reminds that the filing period for candidates who wish to take part in the April 7, 2015 Consolidated Election is December 15-22.

This election includes all municipalities, school boards, park districts, library districts and fire districts that elect.

All candidates with the exception of school board candidates are required to file petitions with their respective units of government. School Board candidates are required to file petitions in the office of the County Clerk. This is a change from previous elections when school board candidates filed in the school unit office.

A Statement of Economic Interest receipt is to be filed with petitions. The statement is to be filed with the County Clerk's office before the filing of a petition in order for a candidate to be able to file the receipt with their petition.

Candidates should call their unit of government or the County Clerk's office with any questions concerning filing requirements or go to the State Board of Elections website http://www.elections.il.gov/ to review the 2015 Candidate's Guide.
