Dieterich school board members passed the fiscal year tax levy at this week's meeting, and also renewed the District's insurance coverage including a 7% premium increase over last year's rates. The Board also directed Superintendent Cary Jackson to obtain information on a few aspects of the policy and to report back at the January Board meeting.

The Board renewed an agreement with the Effingham County Health Department for various health services provided to the District and students at a fee of $20/student, and approved Tanner Traub as a volunteer assistant coach.

The Dieterich Board approved a senior class trip to be taken to Cincinnati on April 22-24, and heard about plans for this year's Dieterich boys and girls Christmas Tournament. The dates for the tournament are December 26, 27 and 29.

Boys basketball Senior Night was discussed and a decision was made to limit the recognition that night to only boy basketball players, cheerleaders, dance team members and pep band members. Previously, all seniors were recognized during the boys basketball Senior Night. The Board also discussed the continuation of the 8th grade promotion ceremony, and the possible addition of an Honors Night for District students. Those matters were tabled to gather additional information before reaching a decision.

Dieterich board members approved an early graduation request at the end of the current school year, and heard from Jackson about the recent state school board convention as well Vision 2020. Vision 2020, at least this version, is a plan conceived by six educational organizations designed to address the future of education in Illinois.
