There's a burning question on who will be the next Illinois Comptroller.

Judy Baar Topinka died early this morning and, according to the Illinois Constitution, Governor Quinn has the authority to appoint someone to the position, but he's on his way out. Some are wondering whether he'll fill the slot before he leaves office on January 12, or will he let Governor-elect Bruce Rauner have the honor.

(SHEILA SIMON)

Rumors are already buzzing that Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon might be chosen for the job, but she isn't confirming that. Simon said now is the time to remember the work Topinka did for the state of Illinois and how she blazed trails for women in state government.

Simon is the Democrat who lost to Republican Topinka in the November election.
