Wednesday is the deadline to apply for the vacant seat on the Teutopolis Board of Education.

Teutopolis Superintendent Bill Fritcher said two people have applied for the seat so far. The official deadline for applications is 3:30pm Wednesday, so mailing in applications is no longer an option. Fritcher asks that any applicants drop their letter of interest off at the Unit Office next to Teutopolis High School.

Fritcher said the Board would discuss filling the seat at their meeting next Monday night. A decision will either be made then or at a special meeting later this month. The Board has 45 days from the time of the resignation to choose a successor.

The vacancy was created by the resignation of Martin Siemer from the Board. Siemer was elected a circuit judge in November. Siemer was serving as Board President. As Vice-President, Gene Niemerg will take over as Board President. Fritcher said the Board is not required to have a Vice-President.
