A person was killed in the crash of a SUV and semi in Richland County Wednesday night.
State police say the driver of the SUV, 19-year-old Caleb Mason of Sumner, did not stop at a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, striking the trailer of the semi driven by 56-year-old Karl Blake of Yale. Police say the semi dragged the SUV some distance before it overturned twice, throwing Mason from the SUV.
Mason was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His passenger, 19-year-old Jalynn Hinton of Sumner, was injured and was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney for treatment. Blake was not injured.
Authorities say neither Mason nor Hinton were wearing their seat belts.
