The other driver involved in a collision that resulted in the death of a local woman has been arrested.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler has filed a felony charge of aggravated DUI against Scott County Illinois resident John H. Adams. The 60-year-old Adams is being held in Pike County after his arrest on an Effingham County warrant, and will be returned to Effingham County for a court appearance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              (BRIANNE MARTIN)

Specifically, Adams is charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of drugs causing death, which is a Class 2 felony. State police investigating the crash reported that Adams had pulled his rig into the passing lane of I-57 and had attempted to turn into a median turnaround, but that Adams' rig was not completely off the roadway. A vehicle driven by 23-year-old Brianne Martin of Effingham struck the back of the rig still on the roadway. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Kibler said his office received information Tuesday from the State Police Crime Lab in Springfield that shows the presence of a cocaine metabolite in Adams' system the day of the crash. The charge alleges that the presence of the metabolite resulted from Adams illegally using cocaine prior to driving.

Judge Kimberly Koester has set bond for Adams at $75,000.
