The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education Monday voted to sell the former Edgewood School building.

The building was sold for one dollar to the Mason Township Park Board. The school district shut down the building as an attendance center at the close of the past school year.

Board members also voted to expel two students from Monday through the end of the first semester of the 2015-16 school year, and suspended another student from riding school district transportation for the remainder of this school year.

The Unit 40 Board also voted to hire Ben Giertz for the second semester of the school year to teach high school PE and driver's education. The Stew-Stras and Greenville College graduate will replace the retiring Dan Hine.
