From now through Saturday, Jan. 10, Helen Matthes Library invites everyone to participate in its first ever Winter Challenge. People of all ages are asked to register for the Winter Challenge and then complete any of the up to 17 fun library related tasks or activities.  The Winter Challenge can be done solo or as a family.

With each completed task, participants will earn an entry to one of 3 drawings. Prizes for the Winter Challenge Drawing include a Kindle Fire Tablet, a Family Night Out Package and a $50 KB Learning and Toys Gift Certificate. Participants who complete 10 tasks or activities will earn a tasty treat.

Registration for the Winter Challenge is available online at www.effinghamlibrary  and participants can print a copy of their Winter Challenge Log after registering.  Participants are also welcome to visit the Library where Information Desk staff will be happy to assist with online registration if needed.

The idea for the Winter Challenge came from the library’s successful Winter Reading program for adults.  As Catherine Bailey, Adult Programming and Marketing Coordinator explains:  “We wanted to build on that and create something that was fun for all ages and that could be done as a family. With the Christmas holidays extending over 2 weeks this year, the Winter Challenge provides the perfect opportunity to keep children engaged with learning and reading.”

“As our community knows, the library is the ideal place to gather and try something new. Take the Winter Challenge with your family and friends and enjoy the variety of programming and events we have to offer,” said Catherine Bailey, Adult Programming Coordinator at Helen Matthes Library.

No library card is needed to participate.  To sign up, visit the library’s website at www.effinghamlibrary.org or visit the Information Desk.  For more details, visit www.effinghamlibrary.org or call the library at 342-2464 x3.
