With snow on the ground Monday and frigid temps settling in, it's hard to believe that one year ago today was the state's largest tornado outbreak for the month of November.

In all, 25 tornadoes swept across the state, part of an outbreak of 75 tornadoes that stretched over 7 states. The worst of the damage was in Washington and New Minden, IL, with each receiving an EF-4 tornado. EF-3 tornadoes also struck near Villa Grove, Gifford, and Brookport.

Locally, an EF-1 tornado caused widespread damage to several homes and structures in the Brownstown, St. Elmo and Altamont areas. Straight-line winds were ruled the cause of damage in several other areas. Video from that day and many photos of the damage are located here in our original report.
