Jasper school board members Monday acted on several personnel matters.
The Board accepted the resignations of Andy and Nicole Underwood, retroactive to July 31 and the retirement of Cindy Rife as of September 30. The Board hired Amy Frohning as Special Education secretary effective September 1 and hired LeAnn Bradley as Operations and Maintenance and Dispatch secretary as of August 31.
Board members approved Tanya Howard as high school varsity volleyball coach and Becca Ochs as high school JV volleyball coach, approved Sandy Hartrich as junior high cheerleading coach, approved Katherine Fehrenbacher as a high school Math teacher, okayed Emily Schumacher as high school Social Studies and Psychology teacher, and approved Emily Meyers as a vocational tutor and credit recovery aide.
In other business, the Jasper board accepted a $2,000 donation from the Maxine Spitler Foundation to be used for the purchase of READ books with the donation to be matched by $1,000 from Usborne Books.
Board members also approved donating 18 old junior high Scholastic Bowl shirts to Faith Fellowship and 20 old football helmets that have been reconditioned to the JFL program. The old East Junior High sports banners recognizing the softball and baseball teams that competed at the state level were donated to the Foundation House in Ste. Marie where they will be displayed.
The Board listened to a five-year textbook adoption plan, heard about summer maintenance projects and professional development activities over the summer by staff members, and learned that the District closed on the purchase of property at 209 Maxwell Street last week with the structure on the parcel to be demolished.
Board members placed a tentative budget on display for the next 30 days, and heard that 1,346 students are enrolled in the Jasper district.
