Three people were injured in a crash on the interstate at the Keller Drive interchange.

The crash happened at 8:29pm Tuesday on I-57 northbound/I-70 eastbound. State police say 25-year-old Metire Woods of Chicago changed lanes and then hit the brakes in the path of a semi. The semi driver, 52-year-old Joseph Thompson of Albany, Georgia, couldn't stop in time and rear-ended Woods' car. The semi came to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway, while Woods' car came to rest on the shoulder of the Keller Drive off-ramp.

Woods was injured, as were his passengers, 27-year-old Domonique Cook and 23-year-old Tivana Bogan, both of Memphis, Tennessee. All three were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Woods was cited for improper lane usage.
