If the budget year goes as is projected for the Teutopolis school district, the district will spend slightly more than it takes in.
The budget blueprint approved Monday night calls for income of $8,965,372, but expenditures of $9,013,550. That's $48,178 more in outgo than income.
The budget calls for $12,000 more in spending than income in the Education Fund, $43,000 more in spending than income in the Building Fund, and $27,000 more in spending than in income in the Tort Fund where things like insurance are handled. The district expects to have more income than outgo in the Bond and Interest Fund, Transportation Fund, IMRF Fund, Capital Projects Fund, Working Cash Fund and Life/Safety Fund.
The Board approved the audit of the past fiscal year's books.
Board members met the leadership of the Teutopolis Education Association for the year, including President Bill Schnabel, Vice President Michele Mette, Treasurer Beth Lindvahl, Secretary Sheila Yagow and Executive Committee members Vicky Simmons, Linda Kalika, Karen Smith and Amy Oseland.
In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board approved the retirement of Kindergarten teacher Beth Lindvahl at the end of the 2015-16 school year, and hired Jean and Steve Sehy as Bridge Club sponsors and Andrew Breeden as high school Scholar Bowl sponsor. Board members also approved early graduation requests from two students; agreed to seek bids on the purchase of a new school bus; and agreed to support the formation of a Construction Trades class, pending full funding from sources other than district funds. The Board also approved an incentive for finding substitute bus drivers, approved the half-time addition of teaching time for Cassidy Klitzing at the grade school, making her a fulltime employee, approved the addition of aide time of four hours per week for Cindy Esker and Amanda Hazlett to cover the high school library, and agreed to advertise for a half-time teacher aide.
