Effingham City Economic Development Director Todd Hull said a lot is going on to improve the local economy, and then presented the facts to back up his statement at the Effingham Noon Rotary Club meeting Wednesday.

Hull reviewed a number of projects, both industrial and commercial, that are either new to the community or an expansion of existing operations.

Among those noted by Hull: Roy Schmidt Honda, Lexington Inn on West Fayette, Continental Mills, Versatech, J&R Collision Center, NAPA Auto Parts, Pinnacle Foods that is in the former Fedders complex, John Boos and Company, Kay Jewelers and Marion Eye Center. He also mentioned that the Hodgson Mill building east of the Buffalo Wild Wings strip mall is nearing completion and that the Hodgson Mill office staff has relocated to the building.

Hull and Economic Development Specialist Sasha Althoff  also discussed work to comply with the State's new requirements regarding reapplying for Enterprise Zone status, and efforts to beef up the City's social media status.

Brian Bloom served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

Zach Gardewine was the Rotary weekly student guest.  He's a senior at St. Anthony High School and is the son of Todd and Gina Gardewine.
