Another attorney was appointed Wednesday to represent Richard Marschke of Vandalia on his drug induced homicide charge.
The 32-year-old Marschke is charged with making available the heroin that led to the death of an Altamont man earlier this year.
Local attorney Ed Deters asked to be removed as counsel, stating that many of the members of his law firm are acquainted with the family of Jordan Kull, who died from an overdose of heroin Marschke allegedly supplied. First Assistant State's Attorney Scott Ealy had no objection to Deters' request to be taken off the case.
Judge Kimberly Koester granted Deters' motion and then appointed local attorney Aaron Jones to represent Marschke. Jones will be the fourth attorney named to represent Marschke, following Public Defender Scott Schmidt, Conflicts Public Defender Richard Runde, and Deters.
Judge Koester set a pretrial hearing for Marschke on September. He's due to go on trial October 6.
