Richard Marschke is getting a new attorney, but he's still slated to go on trial in October.

The 32-year-old Marschke faces a count of drug-induced homicide for allegedly supplying the heroin that led to the death of Jordan Kull of Altamont in January. Conflicts Public Defender Richard Runde had been appointed to represent Marschke, but Runde has his own conflict in the case. His oral motion to be removed from the case Wednesday morning was granted by Judge Daniel Hartigan, who then appointed local attorney Ed Deters as Marschke's new attorney.

Deters is to make his first appearance as Marschke's counsel on Monday, September 8 at 11am.

Marschke is being held in Effingham County Jail, awaiting trial on October 6. It's not known whether a change in attorneys will affect when the trial will begin.
