The case of Richard Marschke of Vandalia was continued Thursday in Effingham County Circuit Court due to the illness of Marschke's attorney.

The 32-year-old Marschke faces a count of drug induced homicide for allegedly supplying the heroin that led to the death of Jordan Kull of Altamont in January. The hearing was delayed due to the illness of Conflicts Public Defender Richard Runde.

However, Runde may also have a conflict in the case, according to State's Attorney Bryan Kibler, so the matter was continued to next Wednesday, September 3 at 11am when the status of the case will be determined.

Marschke is slated to go on trial on October 6.
