The report is now complete on the crash Tuesday evening on the Moccasin Road west of Effingham.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies say a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Matthew Weber of Teutopolis sped up in an attempt to pass another vehicle ahead of a one-lane bridge a quarter-mile west of Nazarene Church Road. Deputies say Weber lost control of the car, which ran off the roadway into a ditch and overturned several times, coming to a stop about 200 feet into a beanfield.

Weber was reportedly injured, as were his passengers, 16-year-old Joseph Runde and 15-year-old Austin Weber, both of Teutopolis. All three were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Weber was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, which was reported at 5:41pm Tuesday.
