Four people were injured in a crash on Illinois Route 32 in Shelby County Wednesday morning.

Shelby County sheriff's deputies say the crash was reported at 9:59am, one mile north of the Effingham County line in a construction zone. A flagger had two southbound vehicles stopped, but another vehicle driven by David Scott Baker of Stewardson did not see the stopped traffic in time to avoid a collision.

Baker hit his brakes, but still rear-ended a vehicle driven by Jacob Tabbert of Stewardson, which in turn rear-ended a delivery van driven by Noah German of Decatur.

Three passengers in Baker's vehicle, Bridget Bliss of Pana as well as a 13-year-old and an infant, were injured and were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Tabbert was also injured and was taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony's. Neither the flagger stopping traffic on the highway nor another flagger stopping traffic on the cross road were injured.

Deputies say arrest information in the crash is pending.

Route 32 was closed in both directions for about an hour after the crash.
