Five people were injured Tuesday morning in a crash on US Route 50 at the Clay/Richland county line.

State police say a SUV driven by 43-year-old Kathleen Voigt of Noble swerved across the centerline of the highway and collided head-on with a semi driven by 52-year-old James Kane of St. Louis, Missouri. A pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Shannon Williams of Flora couldn't stop in time and rear-ended Voigt's vehicle. The crash occurred just before 11:30am.

Voigt and her passenger, 23-year-old Cierra Burgener of Noble, were both injured and were both taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Another passenger, one-year-old James Franks of Noble, was injured and was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment.

Two passengers in Williams' pickup, 25-year-old Deserea Shepard of Ward, Arkansas and 25-year-old Lydia Nevels of Austin, Arkansas, were also injured. Shepard was taken to Clay County Hospital, while Nevels was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney for treatment.

Route 50 was closed at the bridge where the crash occurred until around 3pm Tuesday.
