Capital Construction Bill Signed by Governor

Governor Quinn has signed a new state capital construction bill that invests $1.1 billion in road and bridge projects.
The governor also signed a bill into law that provides the general obligation bond authorization needed to fund the projects.
Here's a look at the projects in our area:
- 13 miles of resurfacing on Illinois 128 from the Shelby County line, south to US 40
- Replacement of a bridge over Range Creek on Illnois 130 in Cumberland County, about a mile north of the Jasper County line
- Resurfacing, bridge deck repairs, and bridge joint repairs on I-57 from the Little Wabash River to I-70 in Effingham County
- Resurfacing and bridge superstructure work on I-57 in Coles County from the Cumberland County line to just west of US 45 at Mattoon
- Resurfacing on I-70 in Fayette County from a mile west of US 40 at Brownstown to two miles west of St. Elmo
- Overlay work, a new bridge deck and rip rap on I-70 from two miles west of St. Elmo to the abandoned railroad bridge at Altamont
- Resurfacing and safety improvements to I-70 in Cumberland County from 7.5 miles east of Effingham to 1.8 miles east of Illinois 130
