Five Injured in Noon Hour Crash Sunday; Other Crashes w/Injuries

Five people were injured in a noon hour crash in Effingham Sunday.

The crash happened at 12:14pm on West Fayette at the interstate on-ramp. City police say a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Hannah Petralito of Glencoe turned in front of and was struck by a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Erica John of Effingham.

Petralito; two passengers in Petralito's vehicle, 11-year-old Maximos Petralito of Glencoe and 12-year-old Alexa Angel of Nashville, Tennessee; and two passengers in John's vehicle, nine-year-old Zane Bailey of Effingham and three-year-old Gavin Bailey of Effingham, were injured and were taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. John was injured but refused treatment.

Petralito was cited for failure to yield.

Two vehicles collided at 3rd and Rickelman at 10:32pm Friday.

City police said a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old juvenile from Effingham turned into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Michelle Watson of Altamont. The juvenile from Watson, and a passenger in the juvenile's vehicle, 17-year-old Emily Willenborg of Effingham, were injured, but refused treatment.

The juvenile was cited for failure to yield and possession of alcohol by a minor.

A bicycle ridden by 23-year-old Dillan Pruemer of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Ethan McKinney of Flora west of the intersection of Taylor and Banker at 1:35pm Thursday. Pruemer was injured but refused treatment.
