Discussions continue in the case of Melly Hofer.

Hofer is charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in the death of a Watson teenager as the result of a crash south of Effingham along US Route 45 last December.

Effingham County Assistant State's Attorney Scott Ealy told Judge Allan Lolie Monday morning that his office and defense attorney Ed Deters are continuing discussions and that local attorney Michael Meyer, who represents the family of Brittany Baker, who was killed in the crash, is being kept abreast of the discussions.

Meyer and friends and family of Brittany were in court for a pre-trial hearing Monday. Ealy and Deters asked that the matter be continued to July 22 at 11am as discussions continue.

Hofer is due to go on trial on August 4.
