New Fair Queen to be Crowned Tonight

11 young ladies are vying to succeed Melissa Mellendorf as Miss Effingham County Fair for 2012.

The Fair Queen Pageant is tonight at 7pm in front of the grandstand at the fairgrounds at Altamont.  The Little Miss Pageant will again be a part of the Queen competition.

The queen hopefuls are 17-year-old Micah Bell of Altamont, 18-year-old Alexis Bolyard of Dieterich, 17-year-old Tracy Boone of Beecher City, 19-year-old Whitney Donaldson of Altamont, 16-year-old Stephanie Lowe of Altamont, 18-year-old Miriah Ludtke of Effingham, 17-year-old Samantha Nieman of Effingham, 16-year-old Joleen Northrop of Altamont, 16-year-old Shania Patton, 18-year-old Jamie Rexroat of Teutopolis, and 20-year-old Gina Thoele of Dieterich.

The winner of tonight's competition will participate in the Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant in Springfield in January.  The winner of the state competition will serve as Miss Illinois County Fair 2013 and would reign over the Illinois State Fair and the DuQuoin State Fair.

This year's list of Little Misses includes Hali Ann Kreke, Emma Sue Smothers, Grace Joy Marie Nance, Elle Christine Hohenbary, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Kollman, Eryka Liberty Aline Ragan, Ellie Ann Macklin, Korina Renee Hecht, Hannah Elaine Sidwell, Camille Olivia Wines, Abigail Jo Courson, Mallory Paige Chambers, Presley Camdyn Hamilton, Sara Lynn Zumbahlen, Libby Renee Reardon, Isabella Elizabeth Harkins, Olivia Louise Flach, Renesa Cynthia Amor Barrett, Katelyn Danielle Frese, Abigail Marie Heischmidt, Emma Lee Tappendorf, Carmen Michelle McMahon, Sidney Claire Donaldson, Riley Jamison Kemme, Emma Catherine Beckman, Presley Siebert, Bailey Renee McClain and Annelise Donaldson.

A reminder of the Little Miss Pigtail competition tonight at 6:15pm in front of the grandstand, sponsored each year by the Effingham County Pork Producers.

You can enjoy music by "Woodrov", the duet of Jessica Johnson and Eric Norman of Effingham on the free stage tonight from 6 to 7:30pm, featuring contemporary music.

Judging today includes the Class H market barrows and breeding stock at 8am, and the 4-H dairy goat and boer goats at 12:30pm.  Be listening for judging results each morning at 8:45am with Rachelle Hollinshead of Effingham County Extension on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
