Brownstown Man Injured in ATV Crash

A Brownstown man was injured Tuesday night in an ATV crash in Fayette County.

State police say 22-year-old Matthew Hellman was riding the ATV on County Road 1200 North at 1675 East just after 8:30pm. The ATV ran off the roadway to the right. When Hellman attempted to get back onto the roadway, the unit slid sideways and then proceeded to roll over several times before coming to rest in a ditch.

Hellman was first taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia for treatment, and then was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital.
