Teutopolis Village Board members Wednesday approved sidewalk replacement work along Main Street at three different locations.
The work was approved in front of the new Siemer Milling Company office building, in front of the Siemer Heritage House, and in front of Fuesting Garage.
The Board also discussed sidewalks with representatives of Wooden Shoe Development, the group developing a Tax Increment Financing district along the north side of US Route 40 on the west edge of the village. The developers asked for a requirement for sidewalks in the development to be waived. The Village Board agreed to waive the requirement for sidewalks along Route 40, but maintained that sidewalks would have to be built along any north-south roadways through the development.
The Board also discussed replacing storm sewer basins around town. The problem is concrete inside the basins. Board members agreed to have Kieffer Brothers Construction of Mt. Carmel replace four basins at a cost of $3,000 per inlet. The Board will review the results of that work before deciding whether to consider further replacement work.
Board members also hired Dave's Power Wash to clean the village water tower in time for the Terquasquicentennial celebration, and okayed a $3,000 expense for two aerators for the sewage treatment plant since the price was higher than the $2,500 figure cited at the previous meeting.
