Quit Veggin, Get Bookin, Raised $2,500 for Library Project

The Helen Matthes Library's third annual 5K, the Quit Veggin' and Get Bookin' Family 5K Run and Walk and it's associated Couch to 5K program has raised nearly $2500 for the new library fund.
Over 80 runners and walkers signed up for the 5K which took place on Saturday, May 10 during the Artisan Fair. The overall winner was Andrew Gardewine setting a new record for the Library's 5K with a race time of 17:56. First place woman was Patty Jansen in a time of 21:11 (Jansen also beat the previous fastest women's time and placed 5th overall.)
In the run up to the 5K, Helen Matthes Library offered a Couch to 5K program in conjunction with Ben Siemer of Siemerworks. First place runner from the Couch to 5K program was Todd Pearcy who came 15th with a time of 29:24.
