A local woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of a methamphetamine precursor, but will not have to spend any more time in jail.
40-year-old Sharon Hobbs of Mattoon, formerly of Effingham, originally was charged with participation in methamphetamine manufacturing after a meth lab was found in a house in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue earlier this year.
Hobbs' co-defendant, 41-year-old Terry Mays of Effingham pleaded guilty earlier this year to a count of participation in meth manufacturing and was sentenced to five years in prison.
In exchange for her guilty plea to the lesser charge, Hobbs was placed on three years probation and was given day-for-day credit for time served in jail awaiting disposition of her case. She was also given permission to move to Oklahoma while completing her probation.
